Clemson, SC Football Game

During the Labor Day weekend (2013), Julie and I had an awesome time travelling to Clemson, SC with Davey and Kathy McDonald for the Clemson vs. Georgia football game. College Gameday was there for the top 5 matchup and we had a great time walking around campus, checking out the gameday stage, tailgating and, of course, watching 83,000 go crazy when Clemson won 38-35!

On Sunday, we spent the day in Greenville, SC which has a great downtown area and walkway along the Reedy River.

Cullen and Jackie's Lakehouse

For three years in a row, we have taken at least one trip up to Cullen and Jackie's lakehouse in central Wisconsin (Lake Petenwell). We have a great time swimming, fishing, going to the "Lure", and roasting marshmallows by the campfire!

This trip included a side trip to Janesville, WI where our van broke down. After about 5 hours trying to kill time, Julie's parents picked us up and we were able to make to the lakehouse finally!

Six Flags

On Thursday, June 27th, in order to celebrate the great reading work that the boys did all school year, we travelled to Six Flags Great America. On an overcast day, the lines were very short and we were able to ride all of the big rides without waiting. The boys went on some of the great rollercoasters including the whizzer, american eagle, and the demon. Of course, after the demon, Andrew had had enough. Nathan and I went on Superman together and actually got caught at the end of the ride!

Good times, good times........

Mother's Day, 2013

On Mother's Day, 2013, in order to celebrate the #1 lady in our lives, the boys and I took Julie downtown to the Lincoln Park Zoo, then out to a REALLY nice dinner at North Pond restaurant. Although the food and service was excellent, Jul and I were most impressed with the boys and their great behavior at such a fancy place!

Spring Break, 2013

In March, 2013, we took a spring break trip to Destin, Florida. We left on Saturday, March 23rd at 5:00am and our first stop was Nashville, Tennessee, where we stayed by Opryland and was able to see Cooter Garage, from Dukes of Hazard! It was also great to see Vanderbilt U, Music Row, and downtown Nashville before we headed out on Sunday morning on our way to Destin. While we were in Destin, we hung by the pool most of the day and the boys played basketball and tennis with some friends that they met there. We also drove over to Moss Point, MS where we visited the Gulf Coast Gator Ranch (from the TV show, Gator Boys). After taking an airboat ride, we were able to see the alligators have lunch. We left Destin on Friday, March 29th and arrived home in Downers Grove, early Saturday morning.

Here are some pictures from our trip!

Waterfall Glen

One of Julie's favorite places to go with the boys and Briley is Waterfall Glen in Darien. She enjoys hiking and wading in the creek (catching crawfish) with the boys.

Here are some pics of a trip they took there in March, 2013.

Illinois vs. Michigan Basketball Game

View Illinois/Michigan Basketball (January, 2013) on WatermanBlog's travel map.

On January 28, 2013, Nathan attended his first Illinois Basketball game. They played the University of Michigan who was ranked in the top #5 at the time and they ended losing in the National Championship game to Louisville later in the season.

We had a great time at the game even though the Fighting Illini lost. IMG_0045.jpgIMG_0049.jpg
